Universities and academic institutions broadly have taken up the mantle of trying to educate and train the data scientists and data-enabled professionals of the future. The question, however, of how data science fits into a university is still an open one. Here, we will explore models for data science education from academic institutions across the country and gain perspective on the pros and cons if different approaches.
