An Overview of the Google Cloud Public Datasets Program

Description: This presentation will provide an overview of the Google Cloud Public Datasets Program, which includes datasets stored in both Google Cloud Storage and Google BigQuery. It will highlight the program’s efforts, key datasets, and how the program works with both data users and data providers to make it easier to share data publicly.

Bio: Shane is a program manager with Google Cloud’s Developer Relations, where he leads the Google Cloud Public Datasets Program. The Google Cloud Public Datasets Program facilitates access to high-demand public datasets in order to make it easy for researchers to access and uncover new insights in the cloud. Before joining Google, Shane was the project manager of NOAA’s Big Data Project. He also currently serves as a public affairs officer in the US Army Reserve. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina and his Master’s in Data Analytics from UMUC.
